Methanol-to-Hydrogen Generators

Onsite. Onboard. On demand.

Generating fuel-cell-grade hydrogen where it’s needed – advancing electrification without the cost, complexity, or risk of compressed hydrogen storage.

e1 Marine’s range of methanol-to-hydrogen generators and integrated power solutions enable on-demand hydrogen production onboard or onsite, supporting fuel cell propulsion and auxiliary power across marine and port applications.

Producing zero NOx, SOx, and PM emissions at the point of use, and offering GHG reductions of up to 85% versus diesel when using renewable methanol.

Mobile | On Demand | Scalable to MW Power Solutions

The M-Series brings methanol reforming and hydrogen purification onboard or onsite for marine and port applications, delivering fuel-cell-grade hydrogen on demand.

Scalable from the M18 (10 kg H2/hr) to the M30 (16.2 kg H2/hr), the M-Series supports megawatt-scale fuel cell propulsion and auxiliary power. Its modular design allows multiple units to run in parallel, providing the redundancy and scalability that maritime operations demand.

The M-Series has received Approval in Principle from Lloyd's Register, ABS, and the Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator – confirming alignment with key regulatory expectations and a clear pathway to class certification.

Fuel Cell Compatibility

All e1 Marine generators produce fuel-cell-grade hydrogen at >99.97% purity, meeting ISO 14687 standards and ensuring compatibility with all marine PEM fuel cells.

This gives operators full flexibility in system design and fuel cell partner selection, with proven integration across a broad range of leading suppliers.

CPG – Clean Power Generator

Port Power | Up to 3 MW | Off-Grid Capable

Ports face mounting pressure to decarbonize, but grid access is often unavailable, unreliable, or prohibitively expensive. The Clean Power Generator (CPG) addresses this directly, providing a flexible, containerized, grid-independent power solution built around e1 Marine's methanol-to-hydrogen technology.

Each CPG unit delivers up to 250 kW and is scalable to 3 MW, supporting cold ironing for berthed vessels, charging battery-electric vehicles, vessels, and port equipment, and emergency backup power. Its mobile format enables rapid deployment wherever demand arises – no permanent infrastructure required.

Onboard & Port Power | CE & ATEX Certified | 140 kW Output

The e-Nomad is a CE and ATEX certified, containerized power unit delivering clean, on-demand energy aboard vessels and in port environments where grid access is limited or unavailable.

As a self-contained module, it generates up to 140 kW of grid-independent electricity via an integrated fuel cell, with plug-and-play installation and no reliance on fixed infrastructure. Once operational, the e-Nomad is energetically autonomous: the reformer, fuel cell, and power electronics are self-powered, requiring no on-site operator.

Applications include onboard auxiliary power, hotel loads at berth, charging of battery-powered equipment, and temporary or remote power supply.

Integrated Onboard Unit | 250 kW | Methanol-to-Power | Scalable

Developed by PowerCell and incorporating e1 Marine’s M30 methanol reformer, the M2Power 250 combines hydrogen generation and fuel cell power production in a single, pre-assembled unit – generating electricity directly from methanol onboard.

By placing hydrogen generation and power output under unified controls, the M2Power 250 removes the need to integrate and manage separate components. The system connects directly to the vessel’s energy management system, with simplified interfaces for cooling, ventilation, and power – reducing engineering complexity and installation time.

Delivering 250 kW per module and scalable to multi-MW installations, it provides a ready-to-deploy solution for onboard power generation.
